Lasang Pinoy, Sundays #17

Theme #17: Pica-pica

I live in a city where Pinoy goodies are rare to find. Therefore, I have to make my own goodies. Enter my very own Adobong Peanuts. By the way, why is it called Adobo when there's nothing adobo about it? In any case, I looooove Adobong Peanuts. I make mine using huge peanuts and add chili flakes to make it spicy. Yummy!!!

Wow, you make your own adobong mani? Galing. I thought people just buy those... I guess homemade is still the best. Hands down to you.

oo nga noh, why do they call it adobong mani? when they should be calling it garlic peanuts, dba? nonetheless, your entry made me hungry and want to grab a can of beer. hehehe!

Haha, ngayon ko lang nakita to kasi I wanted to see what's your LP entry (sidebar). I was surprised to see your adobong mani! And they look really HOT with all those sili!
Adobo pala tawag dyan. I termed it deep fried (as I am sure you know, as you just visited that page!) or ginisa (wasn't sure what we actually termed it).
Like many comments say here, I also did not know how to make them, until my most recent try.

i make this every single week. in fact, i'm eating some right now. here's the key: use medium low heat, keep stirring until your armpits hurt ;), then quit when peanuts start to turn brownish. brownish is the key here because the peanuts will continue to cook even after you take them out of the oil. i've had many mishaps (read: burnt) so i've perfected the technique :)
