i didn't learn how to cook rice until i was 18. the other day, i thought it would be fun to "teach" the 5-year old how to cook rice. it was all play to him. and he had so much fun!

paglutuin mo nalang ako ng kahit ano, wag lang magsaing
hipncoolmomma -- me too! i only know how to use the rice cooker. but i've never attempted to cook rice the old-fashioned way. baka makasunog pa
hi purplegirl. i just came across your blog the other day.
i had to teach my son to cook rice, too. i taught him the finger method, measuring about an inch of water above the rice surface (using the tip of your finger or the end of a wooden spoon to measure. bring to a boil, then simmer on low and set the timer for 20 minutes (usually for 2 cups of bigas).
Chloe has a ball.. just scooping the rice into the rice cooker.. ;) she hasn't graduated to cooking or washing the rice yet.. keke!!
soon.. i hope..!
lani: wow, the old-fashioned way of cooking rice, huh? i've never attempted it. i love my rice cooker way too much ;-) but i'm definitely keeping your tip in my collection so that i can do it if the need arises.
mamabok: yeah, to kids, it's all play. my 5-year old just plays with the uncooked rice in the water and pretends he's actually cooking it.
if hipncoolmama cannot yet get the right ratio--sexy mom has not even yet attempted to cook rice!
